Conversation on activism

What challenges does one face as an activist and a human rights defender in 2022?

During this year's AGM we are gathering activists from different European countries to a conversation on activism and the right to protest under the authoritarian turn. Among others you will meet Agnieszka and Grzegorz from Amnesty Poland who will tell us about their work in a country where basic democratic rights are under continuous pressure.

Maya Fenyvesi and Máté Mali from Amnesty Hungary.

In addition we will be joined by Maya and Maté from Amnesty Hungary. They have both been activists for several years, and have been especially interested in lgbt+ peoples rights and gender discrimination. We are looking forward to learning about how the situation in Hungary affects their activism!

Workshops

Saturday afternoon there are three different workshops you can choose between. Only the workshop on campaigning will be provided in English.

Workshop on campaigning

Campaigning is one of Amnesty’s most important tools in creating change. But how does campaigning really work? And how do we plan the process from an idea to a success ? And how can you be a part of this process?

Together with Head of campaigns Katinka Asplin and political advisor Ingrid Westgaard Stolpestad you will get the opportunity to learn more about Amnesty’s campaign work and how we can achieve political and human rights wins together. Taking our work on Big Tech as a starting point, this workshop will look closer at how Amnesty can impact on this field and the role Amnesty’s activists can play.

Please note that this workshop will be available in English.

Gathering for group leaders

All group presidents and vice presidents are invited to this gathering!

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to gain leadership training where you will learn more about what it means to have a voluntary position and learn some tools that can help you in the role as leader. Secretary-General John Peder Egenæs will talk about the groups’ role in Amnesty and President of the Norwegian Children and Youth Council (LNU) Isa Maline Isene will give a course on leadership.

This will be a valuable experience where you will gain knowledge you will benefit from in the future – both in and outside Amnesty!

Please note that this workshop will only be available in Norwegian.

Workshop individuals at risk

Are you interested in the situation for human rights defenders across the world today? Maybe you want to learn more about how Amnesty works with this issue or what you can do about it?

In this workshop, Head of programme for individuals at risk Ida Marie Hansen and political advisor Gerald Folkvord will teach us about Amnesty’s work on individuals at risk and our priority countries.

Please note that this workshop will only be available in Norwegian.

Register for the workshops when you arrive at the AGM.

Singer/songwriter Agnete Saba will join our AGM!

Agnete's music career started in 2008 when she won Melodi Grand Prix jr. with her band The BlackSheeps and their song "Oro jaska beana" - a song which later that year won a Spellemanpris (Norwegian equivalent of Grammy Awards).

In 2016 she won Melodi Grand Prix with the song "Icebreaker" and represented Norway in Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm.

Throughout the years she has participated in several music/entertainment shows on TV, and in January 2021 she starred in the popular Norwegian TW show "Hver gang vi møtes".

She spent her childhood years among wild nature and fresh air in Reaphen, Finnmark.

With a band consisting of three musicians and a hand picked creative team, Agnete has created a music project with the same name, inspired by the powerful nature in her home town. In the spring of 2021 Agnete released the EP Tundra, with beautiful melodies and moody lyrics, which together with Agnete's powerful voice created a musical universe where the artist shows a raw and honest side of her self.

Yngvil
