Practical Information:

Date: April 19, 2024, at 09:00-17:30

Location: Oslo

Who: The youth gathering is open to everyone between the ages of 13 and 19. You dont have to be a member of Amnesty to join, but only members have travel and accommodation expenses covered. If you are not a member yet, you can become one here.

Under 18: If you are under 18 years old at the time of the gathering, parental consent is required for you to travel and participate. Find the consent form here.

Travel: You must book your own travel, but Amnesty covers the most economical travel option. Amnestys climate policy encourages you to choose train or bus if the travel can be made in less than 7 hours. Please note there is a travel fee of 200 NOK. Book early and keep your receipts to apply for reimbursement from your regional office. The reimbursement form can be found here. If you need assistance booking tickets or are unable to make the upfront payment, contact your regional office for help.

Language: As many participants may not understand Norwegian, the program will be conducted in English. However, there will still be an opportunity to speak Norwegian if you are more comfortable with that.

Accommodation: If you are coming from out of town, you will be provided accommodation at a shared room, not far from the venue. You will be booked into shared rooms with other youth gathering participants. Please indicate your preference on the registration form.

Absence: Since the gathering is on a Friday, you may miss school classes. Contact Maria at [email protected], and you will receive a confirmation to present at school. This will be considered political absence in high school. If you are in middle school, check with your teacher regarding the rules for political absence that apply to you.

Annual General Meeting (AGM): As usual, the youth gathering is held the Friday before the AGM. The AGM is the main platform for members to decide Amnesty's focus and governance. It is also a great opportunity for inspiration and learning, with exciting guests from both domestic and international spheres. If you wish to stay for the entire weekend, you have the option to contribute to shaping the organization's agenda for the coming year. You can sign up for the AGM here.

We look forward to meeting both new and experienced activists for a fun and inspiring weekend. If you have any questions, you can contact Maria, the project leader for youth initiatives, via email at [email protected].

Best regards,

Maria (Youth Council Leader)
