Action Circular: May 1st ✨

May 1st is International Workers' Day, celebrated across the country with events, speeches, and marches. This year, we hope you will join us in bringing attention to the human right violations in Gaza.

Israel's ruthless bombing of Gaza has led to a society that has completely collapsed, eradicating the possibility of earning a dignified livelihood for the entire population of Gaza. All principles regarding the right to work, equality, and economic and social security have been erased by this man-made crisis.

Learn more about what you can do to raise awareness on May 1st in the new action circular below.

Tuesday 23rd of April there will be a digital campaign training with political advisor Gerald Folkvord, sign up below, and remember to tick off that you want it in english!

Action circular war resistance in Russia

The authorities in Russia are doing everything they can to isolate those who express criticism against the government and close the public space for free speech. March 17th was election day in Russia, but everyone knew who would win. Anyone who could have challenged Putin is either killed, fled the country, or imprisoned.

In the period before and after the election, we encourage actions against the war censorship laws in Russia, as well as highlighting the stories of individuals who have put much at stake to promote truth, justice, and democracy in the country.

Consent law: Keep the pressure up!

On March 8th, activists across the country raised their voices for a consent-based legislation!

To ensure that the Government suggests a “only yes means yes” law to Parliament before the summer, we must continue to keep the pressure up.

We want them to know that we are watching and won't settle for a law that isn't good enough. Tag @emiliemehl in everything you post about consent on social media, and use #samtykkelovnå and #1av5.

Send us your nomination for the Activist Prize 2024!

Do you know an activist who has been incredibly creative in their activism? A group that has excelled on social media, or someone who has simply done excellent work with the press? Then you should nominate them for the Activist Award 2024.

One of the highlights of the national assembly is to award the activist prizes, where we shine a light on all the fantastic work happening throughout the country throughout the year.

Whether you are attending the national assembly or not, we hope that you will nominate someone for the Activist Award 2024. This can be done by filling out the form at the link below.

Verktøykassa: Tips for "letter to the editor"

In the "toolbox" for activists, we have collected several tips and tricks.

On the page about reader submissions you will find templates, examples and tips on how to go about writing yourself.

You will also often find tips for reader posts and sometimes also separate points for reader posts in action guides. Right now, for example, one can write to mobilize to get behind Amesty's slogan in the May 1 train: "LIFT THE BLOCKADE OF GAZA NOW!", tell the story of individuals in Russia or demand a real consent law.

Do you want someone to read over, or have questions? Please contact your regional office.

This newsletter will go out to all activists who are registered in groups on Min Side. Currently, I see that not everyone is registered here and ask group leaders to share with those who may not have received this e-mail - thank you!

Get in touch if you have any questions!
