Activism Calendar South 2025

The Activism Calendar for 2025 is Ready!

Here you’ll find important dates, campaigns, gathering schedules, and more. It’s a great tool for your group to use when planning the year ahead.

From the regional meeting, you might notice that the spring campaign on women in authoritarian regimes is not included as a standalone campaign this year. The topic will instead be highlighted in connection with International Women's Day on March 8. We've also made another change: the consultation on methods for Amnesty's strategy will take place physically at the national meeting rather than digitally beforehand.

We will continue working on key issues like Ukraine, Iran, and Gaza. You can find a full overview of action guides in the link below.

The autumn campaign will be decided in March/April. Do you have any suggestions or ideas? Please send us your input as soon as possible!

The southern region’s year plan is always available on the regional page – use the button at the top of this newsletter.

New Campaign - Just Transition in Sàpmi

Climate change and the green transition threaten Norwegian reindeer herding and Sámi culture. Traditional reindeer herding in Sápmi faces challenges such as melting ice, unpredictable snow conditions, and increased industrial development. That’s why Amnesty is launching a new campaign, Time Out for Sápmi, focusing on the serious consequences for Sámi communities.

The Just Transition in Sápmi highlights the need for a fair transition where Sámi rights and traditions are recognized and protected. The campaign kicks off with a report launch on January 29, offering exciting opportunities for you to get involved. Learn more about the project below.

On Wednesday, January 15, we’re hosting a digital training session on the campaign. Project leader Christian Bull and Training and Organizational Coordinator Sofie Fjellblome will provide an introduction to the campaign, key facts about the challenges facing Sámi communities, and practical tools to help you take action.

We’ll also share details about the upcoming report launch on January 29 and guide you in planning local actions.

Amnestys Annual General Meeting 2025!

The weekend of April 25–27, we’re gathering Amnesty members for the 2025 National Meeting with the theme of Freedom of Expression at Union Scene in Drammen. Here, you’ll meet inspiring guests, participate in engaging and educational workshops, attend the activist awards ceremony, and share your views on how Amnesty in Norway should work moving forward.

The National Meeting is open to all members. To have voting rights, you must have been a paying member for at least three months before the meeting.

Important dates:

  • January 25: Deadline to submit proposals for bylaw amendments and to pay membership fees to secure voting rights.
  • February 25: Deadline to submit motions for decisions.

We look forward to seeing you in Drammen – sign up now!

Quarterly report for groups!

It's a new year, 2025, but we're taking a quick look back at 2024 before moving forward. It’s time to fill out the quarterly report for the fourth and final quarter of the year, covering October, November, and December.

It only takes a couple of minutes to fill out, and we’d like all groups to submit the form, even if you didn’t have any activities during this quarter.

The deadline for submission is Sunday, January 24th – please let us know if you have any questions!

Nordic Youth Council

As 2024 comes to a close, we’ll say goodbye to Maria da Silva and Stine Melby as Norway’s representatives in the Nordic Youth Council, Amnestys collaboration for youth activism in the Nordics.

Maybe you’ll be one of the representatives in the next term?

The deadline is January 12th
