Regional Newsletter South, August 2025
Dear activists in region south,
August has been full of activity – from a busy and inspiring week at Arendalsuka with our stand and actions, to the start of the autumn semester, where we welcomed new students!
We are now entering a period with Pride events at several locations here in the Southern region – we have some materials at the office, so let us know if you would like anything sent to you or if you need any assistance!
This autumn, we also welcome Savå, who started as an office volunteer at the regional office in August, and Tuva from September onwards.
In this newsletter you will find information about:
- Digital meeting: Testimonies from Gaza and the West Bank
- Pride action circular 2025
- Digital brainstorming session - join in!
- Consultation on the strategy
- Quarterly report for April, May, June
Greetings from the regional office,
Gunvor, Carina and Hildegunn
Digital meeting: Testimonies from Gaza and the West Bank
Welcome to a digital conversation with Amnesty’s Senior Researcher on Palestine and Israel, Budour Hassan, who is currently visiting Norway, together with a survivor from Gaza. The meeting will take place on August 28 at 19:00- 20:00.
They will share testimonies from people living under extremely difficult conditions.
The meeting will be held in English.
Action circular pride 2025
We continue to celebrate and protest for inclusion, diversity, and LGBTQIA+ rights throughout the autumn!
This year's Pride action focuses on Turkey, where it is becoming increasingly difficult to be queer and to celebrate Pride.
Digital brainstorming session - join!
Children in Gaza and the West Bank are growing up under unbearable conditions, but this campaign is about fighting for the living. On August 25, letchildrenlive.com will launch, where you can receive the name of a child to carry forward – to give hope, a voice, and to demand change.
Join the digital brainstorming session on September 3rd from 18:00 to 19:00 with fellow activists participating in the Let Children Live campaign.
Together, we’ll explore powerful ways to share the names of children living in Gaza and the West Bank. Let’s ensure these children are seen as individuals, not just numbers in a statistic.

Help shape Amnesty in Norway's work for the Next Five Years - remember to sign up by 25. August!
In 2026, Amnesty in Norway will adopt a new strategy that will last until 2030. The board, together with the secretariat, will create a proposal for the new strategy, but it is you, the members, who will adopt the strategy at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in 2026.
To ensure that the proposal for the 2026-2030 strategy is as good as possible, we invite all members who wish to participate to a digital consultation round in late summer. Here you will be presented with the proposal for the new strategy, and there will be an opportunity to provide input and suggest changes.
There will be two digital consultation rounds with the same content to ensure that as many people as possible can participate. This means that it is sufficient to sign up for one of the days.
- Thursday, August 28, from 17:00 to 19:00
- Monday, September 1, from 17:00 to 19:00
Please note that the consultation meetings will be held in Norwegian, but if you wish to provide input in English, you can contact us via email: [email protected]
We hope to see you at the consultation round!
Best regards, Tor Kåpvik, Chairman, on behalf of the entire board
Quarterly Report – April, May, June
The deadline for this years second quarterly report – that is, April, May, and June is already Friday, August 22. It would be great if you or someone else in the group could fill it in by the end of the day 🌞
The report should only take a few minutes to complete, and we really appreciate you taking the time to fill out the form – even if the group hasn’t had any activity this quarter!
For new group leaders: There is a Q&A below the form that might be helpful to read!
This newsletter will go out to all activists who are registered in groups on Min Side. Currently, I see that not everyone is registered here and ask group leaders to share with those who may not have received this e-mail - thank you!
Get in touch if you have any questions!
