The Annual General Assembly (AGM) 2024 for Amnesty in Norway will be held on April 19-21 in Oslo, and you are invited:
This is your opportunity to participate in deciding how Amnesty in Norway will work for human rights. You will get to know activists from across the country, and, most importantly, be inspired and motivated to continue your work for human rights. At the 2024 National Assembly, we will look back on the last 60 years of Amnesty in Norway while also looking ahead to the challenges human rights face in the coming years.
More information about the location and time will be provided with the registration for the AGM. Registration will be sent out via email to all members and will be published on our website in mid-December.
Do you have a great idea about what Amnesty in Norway should focus on? Or do you think there's something in Amnesty's statutes that should be changed? Then, the National Assembly is your opportunity to submit a proposal.
Here is the deadline for submitting proposals for change:
- Proposal submissions must be sent in by: 6 weeks before the AGM, March 8, 2024.
- Statute changes (changes to Amnesty Norway's statutes) must be submitted by January 19, 2024.
If you're unsure about how to submit a proposal for change, don't worry. You can find information on the link below on how to proceed, or you can send an email to [email protected] request assistance.
For inspiration, we include this video clip of Alex and the journey from proposal to decision from last year's AGM. Watch it below
Youth Gathering:
The youth gathering will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024. The youth gathering is for all Amnesty members aged between 13-19, whether you are part of a group or not. Here, the whole group can come and get to know youth activists from across the country, discuss the issues we work on, and learn more about activism and human rights. Save the date and invite an Amnesty friend! Registration for the youth gathering will be included with the invitation to the National Assembly in mid-December.
Board Elections:
Do you want to be part of Amnesty in Norway's board, or do you have suggestions for a good candidate? In 2024, several new members will be elected to the board, and all Amnesty members can express interest or suggest candidates. If this is something for you, or you know of a good candidate, contact the chair of the election committee: Mina Haugen [email protected]
Amnesty Award 2024:
Every other year, the Amnesty Award is given to a person or organization that, through their work, has contributed to informing or creating debate on current human rights issues or has achieved results in the form of better protection and rights for individuals or groups of people. It is a requirement that the candidate is a resident of Norway.
You can nominate a candidate for the Amnesty Award 2024? Here's how:
Send the name of the candidate along with a brief explanation to the secretary of the nomination committee for the Amnesty Award: Alexandra Salfatte Larsen, [email protected].
Mark the email with "Amnesty Award 2024." Submit your candidate proposal by January 22, 2024.

All members of Amnesty are invited to the National Assembly. If you are not a member yet, you can become one at the link below. Note that to have voting rights at the National Assembly, you must have been a member for 6 months. If you join now, you can participate without voting rights.
